Adobe updated its Indigo camera app with an AI Playground suite, introducing generative filters, seamless object removal, and interactive chatbot feedback directly inside the app. It marks another step in normalizing real-time, generative photo manipulation right at the moment of capture, blurring the line between traditional photography and algorithmic synthesis.
However, moving AI models closer to the core of mobile devices carries real-world risks. A newly discovered Android lockscreen bug involving Gemini AI demonstrated that attackers could trick the assistant into sending messages without unlocking the phone. Google has promised a security fix shortly, but the flaw highlights the delicate trade-off between convenience and safety when granting broad system permissions to conversational agents.
